Stained glass workshop

Inshalah Glass is run by Peter and Susanne from their base in the nearby village of Las Canteras (10 min drive from Jorairatar). They offer an intriguing insight into the fascinating art form of stained glass. Their courses suit everyone from beginners to advanced. Included in their fee are all the basic materials and use of tools. Lessons in drawing and design are given as part of the course if required. Also carpentry skills are covered for making frames or stands to finish off your creations. Space is limited to 4 students at a time as it is necessary for Peter and Susanne to devote a lot of attention for each student. They can organise anything from a 1 day course to a five day beginners course (please contact or see website for further information). Courses cost 60 euros per day which includes lunch.

Outdoor activities

Cliff Lowther is a qualified mountain instructor and holds the UK Mountain Instructors Award and the Mountain Leaders Certificate (summer and winter) with 25 years experience. He is also experienced in the delivery of team management development. He can offer rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, ridge scrambling and guided walks to the highest point in Spain (Mulhacen) which is situated in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Bodega ‘El Cortijo de la Vieja’

Bodega El Cortijo de la Vieja ‘old vineyard’ produces the delicious ‘Iniza’ wine. For generations the family have been producing this local wine and now it is time for the granddaughters to ‘run’ the business. Situated in a beautiful setting on the slopes of the Sierra de Gador with magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada you can roam around the grounds, taking in the sights, smells and sounds of the countryside. Then have a look at the manufacturing process and compare the modern day methods to those of the old traditional methods (which are still used now in many of the local houses). Sampling the wine is a must!

We serve Iniza wine with evening meals. If you have booked accommodation with Trek alpujarra we will gladly arrange a visit to bodega El Cortijo de la Vieja if you wish to visit.
